OUR TRAINERS

NAME Pat Marlow Jackie Fryer Paula Buck
MY LIFE SO FAR

Sport has always played a big part in my life.  I used to be in every team going at school – netball, hockey, athletics, gym, swimming etc.  Admittedly that’s a long time ago!  However, my career until a few years ago was in finance until I saw the light and took myself off to train in the fitness field.  I now work as a self employed personal trainer working mainly with individuals on a one to one basis.

I was born in a far away land in South Africa – and I am very proud to be South African. The outside lifestyle of over there has never left me until the rain starts to pour down. I lived in Wales for 3 years while at university. I have always been passionate about sport and after wanting to be in the police force for a long while I now want to concentrate and become a personal trainer.

I have always been active, dancing, aerobics, canoeing, cycling, walking, swimming, at one point I was a junior county swimmer. Up until two years ago I was a science technician at the University of Leicester School of Education, working with student teachers. On one of those ‘special birthdays’ I decided to give it all up and retrain. I recently qualified as a Personal Trainer, but I’m still studying.

MY QUALIFICATIONS I hold a diploma in personal training covering modules in Fitness Training, Circuits, Optimum and Sports Nutrition, Body Massage, Sports Massage Therapy and Emergency Aid.  I also hold a diploma in Sports Therapy and am a member of the Register of Nutritional Therapists.  These qualifications are recognised by the Register of Exercise Professionals set up by the government and entitle me to Advanced Instructor status in this organisation.

BSc (Hons) Sports Science, Coaching in Basketball, Gym Instructor (YMCA).

Certificate in Personal Training, Advanced Fitness Instructor, Sports Conditioning, Client Appraisal, Nutrition and Weight Management, Circuit Training, Walking and Aqua Exercise.
MY SPECIAL INTERESTS Running, working out at the gym and squash.   I used to play in the Leicestershire Ladies’ squash leagues and currently run with Desford Striders. Going through school, college and university I have competed in every sport going, including shot put, netball, football and basketball. Rennie Mackintosh, Tiffany glass and leaded lights, aqua and aerobic exercise.
I LOVE Travelling, chocolate, Red Square Reloaded and sunshine. To travel, Springboks and the Killers! Sunshine and walking holidays, good food, wine and quality hotels.
I HATE Smoking, worms and arrogance. People smoking in my face, marmite, losing at pool.  Smoking and unnecessary background music and noise, especially on ‘phones.
STRANGE FACT ABOUT ME I have a phobia about buttons. I play the acoustic guitar. My children tell me I am strange, but I was once a lollipop lady and for a fitness instructor, I don’t jog or run!
MOST EMBARRASSING MOMENT When one of my black lace top stay up stockings started to slither down my leg Norah Batty fashion while I was giving a presentation on e-commerce to colleagues! Recently getting locked out of my home with the key still in my hand and having to climb in through the window. Abandoning our canoe and leaving my partner upturned on a mud bank when a swan decided we were a threat to it’s nest.
